Hey ladies, what's up? Sitting here just contemplating some things. It's early morning, sitting outside on my patio, listening to the birds chirping and watching the squirrels running along my fence. The early morning hours are the absolute best for me. I meditate, pray, and read my daily devotionals. It allows me to center myself, removing myself from all the distractions and blocking out the noise of cars passing on my street.
Relative to the title of this post, sure it's only natural for us to reflect, to think back on what we maybe could have done differently. It starts to penetrate our thoughts, often consuming just entirely too much of our energy. Some of us may have regrets in how we raised our kids, knowing that we did the best we knew how to do at the time, right? Parenting doesn't come with a manual; we sort of had to wing it. The part we played in the dissolution of a marriage, perhaps. Maybe some regret not continuing on in higher education, or perhaps being overlooked for a promotion and now realizing it was due to our own inadequacies when we were part of the workforce. Whatever the case may be, just know that dwelling on "if I wish I could have" mentally can have an astounding effect on us moving forward. It can stifle us from moving onto a more rewarding and fulfilling life. Staying mentally stuck in situations can create bitterness, anger, and frustration that could ultimately impact our health as well. Our minds are delicate in that what we dwell on, we can become. What is done is done, and there is nothing we can do about it at this point but just look forward to creating a meaningful life in this chapter of our lives. As long as we are living, we are on an unpredictable journey. A roller coaster at times. Why not make a conscious effort to just enjoy the journey? We are older and wiser now. Don't let past regrets keep you from living! Again, we cannot change the past, so just LET IT GO! There is a reason why there is a rearview mirror, and a windshield; metaphorically speaking, it's to remind us that when we look through the rear view mirror , we see what we have already passed. Instead, look straight ahead, through the windshield and see what is ahead, a new beginning of what we are about to embark on: however first and foremost FREEING OUR MINDS for one is a major step in making progress in living a more peaceful, joyful and fulfilling life!
