Hey there, ladies! What has been going on? I don't know about y'all, but this change in the season has got me raring to go! I just feel so energized, wanting to seek out new opportunities and discover new things that could enhance my life. Remember that it's never too late to start anything that you have put off and had dreams of doing, but the time just didn't permit. I want to introduce you guys to a real OG entrepreneur. This diva has been in the game for decades and is still doing her thing, setting standards and trailblazing the way for many up-and-coming entrepreneurs/business owners.

DENISE ROBILLARD MIXON is a longtime friend of mine who has been exemplary in what she does for decades. She models herself as a designer, seamstress, and tailor, as well as providing expert services for special occasions such as weddings, parties, and other special events. These services include party decor, such as tablescapes, floral arrangements, and providing other party paraphernalia. Whatever your decorating needs are, Denise can surely provide. Denise, back in the day, had fashion shows showcasing her creativity and unique designs, as well as her talents in this genre. Denise executed and provided professional services all while being a mother to her four now-grown daughters, all of whom are now following in their mother's footsteps of entrepreneurship. She once owned and operated her own brick-and-mortar shop operating under the name of "Forever Special." The business today is still fully functioning and is currently operating under that name.

Over the years, Denise has been hired by various Mardi Gras organizations. She is currently a designer for the Victory Belles of New Orleans, creating costumes for their special appearances at different venues throughout the city. Denise has been involved in hundreds of weddings and events in and around New Orleans. When asked about her formal training, she admits she has none. Having known her for most of my adult life, I can confirm this—she is simply a natural talent. She began pursuing this passion in her teens and has refined it over the years. Denise mentioned that balancing her roles as a wife and mother in the early years was challenging, but her passion made it all worthwhile. Now a senior citizen, she leaves a legacy for her daughters and exemplifies perseverance, demonstrating that when we are passionate about our calling, nothing can stop us. There is no age limit to what we can achieve. We salute you, DENISE ROBILLARD MIXON, for your many years of entrepreneurial service to the City of New Orleans and its surrounding areas. Keep doing what you do! You have made us and future generations very proud!
